Sodium nitrite
NaNO sodium nitrate is an inorganic salt generated by the combination of nitrite ions and
sodium ions.Sodium nitrite is deliquescent easily, soluble in water and liquid ammonia, its
aqueous solution is alkaline, sodium nitrite has salty taste, it is used to make false salt.Sodium
nitrite reacts with oxygen to form sodium nitrite when exposed to air.If heated to 320 ℃ above
the decomposition, oxygen, nitrogen oxide and sodium oxide generated.
1.Granule, stick, or powder white to pale yellow.It has hygroscopicity.
2.Slowly oxidize into sodium nitrate in the air.Brown nitrous oxide gas is released when weak acid decomposes.
3.Soluble in 1.5 parts cold water and 0.6 parts boiling water, slightly soluble in ethanol.
4.The aqueous solution is alkaline with a pH of about 9.Relative density 2.17.Melting point is 271 ℃.Oxidizing, in
contact with organic matter can burn and explode, and release toxic and irritating nitrogen peroxide and nitrous oxide gas.
