In the first half of 2020, China's coke output was 228,686,000 tons, down 2.5% year on year and 1.6 percentage points less than that in the first quarter. Among them, the coking output of iron and steel coking enterprises was 546.77 million tons, up by 0.8% year-on-year, and that of other coking enterprises was 174.09000 tons, down by 3.5% year-on-year.

Second, coke prices are still low. In the first half of 2020, the average price of coke with particle size greater than 40mm was 1,816 yuan/ton, down 10.7% year on year and 0.3 percentage points less than that in the first quarter. The average price of coke with grain size of 25-40 mm was 1,734 yuan/ton, down 11.9% year on year and 0.7 percentage points less than that of the first quarter.

Third, the pressure of coke trade is rising. In the first half of 2020, the export of coke reached 1.758 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 54.3%. The average export price of coke was US $222.4 / ton, a year-on-year decrease of 24.5%. Coke import was 746,000 tons, up 10,30.8% from the same period last year, and the average coke import price was US $233.1 / ton, up 6.2% from the same period last year.

Fourth, economic performance has improved. Take Shanxi Province, a major coke producing region, as an example. In the first half of 2020, the coking industry realized an operating revenue of 83.28 billion yuan, down 15.6% year on year and 3.9 percentage points less than that in the first quarter. The total profit was 2.49 billion yuan, down 57.7% year on year and 17 percentage points less than that in the first quarter.
