Application fields

1. Medical applications: Dermatology uses certain agents containing urea to increase the humidity of the skin. The occlusive dressing used for non-surgical removal of nails contains 40% urea.

2. Agricultural application: Urea is a high-concentration nitrogen fertilizer, which is a neutral quick-acting fertilizer and can also be used to produce a variety of compound fertilizers. No harmful substances remain in the soil, and long-term application has no adverse effects. Urea is an organic nitrogen fertilizer that can be absorbed and utilized by crops after being hydrolyzed to ammonium carbonate or ammonium hydrogencarbonate by urease in the soil.

3. Commercial application: special plastic raw materials, especially urea formaldehyde resin; some rubber raw materials; fertilizer and feed ingredients; instead of anti-freezing salt scattered in the street, the advantage is not to corrode the metal; strengthen the smell of cigarettes;

4. Laboratory application: Urea is very effective in denaturation of proteins, especially in the destruction of non-covalently bound proteins. This feature can increase the solubility of certain proteins at concentrations up to 10 moles/vol. Urea can also be used to make urea nitrate.

5. Application in cosmetics: Urea is a very good moisturizing ingredient. It is found in the stratum corneum of the skin and belongs to the main component of the skin's natural moisturizing factor NMF. 6. Industrial application: It has a light-increasing effect on chemical polishing of steel and stainless steel, as a corrosion inhibitor in metal pickling, and also used in the preparation of palladium activation liquid.
